Many of you may know the name Casa Bonita from the South Park episode where Cartman tricks Butters into hiding for a week so he can go in his place to his favorite Mexican restaurant. In fact Casa Bonita is a real Mexican restaurant located in Lakewood, Colorado (just like the fictional South Park). Casa Bonita was once a chain of restaurants but only one now remains. The restaurant seats 1100 and has attractions like cliff divers, caves, flame jugglers and Mexican dancers, making the South Park depiction of Casa Bonita fairly accurate. The Restaurant is designed to look like a Mexican Village and its big seller is the all you can eat dinners. The video above is of the popular cliff divers diving into the restaurants artificial lake. If you ever get to Casa Bonita let us know what the tacos are like.
Gadgets, gadgets and more gadgets
Tokyo’s Akihabara is home to what would have to be the worlds highest concentration of electronic gadgets on sale. The whole suburb sells electronics, whether it be Mobile phones, digital cameras, stereos, videos, DVDs, computers or you name it. World Heritage – Daintree Rain Forest
The Daintree about an hours drive north of Cairns in Australia’s tropical Queensland is home to the giant Barramundi. This fish sits upon the Barbeque garden at the Timber Museum and Gallery. The Barramundi isn’t the only big thing found in the rivers of these parts of Australia, the freshwater crocodile is also in plentiful supply. The region has several river cruises to choose from and you are all but guaranteed to see one of these enormous and deadly reptiles on your journey.

Paris for free!
Paris is one of the more expensive cities in the world but not on the first Sunday of the month when many of the cities museums are free- yes free. And we are not talkin B grade museums, the most popular ones are in on the act too, including the Louvre, home to the Mona Lisa and the Musee d’Orsay and even the Musee National Picasso. Now if museums are not your stuff, why not visit one of the Arc de Triomphe, or Notre Dame they are free too between October the 1st and March on the first Sunday.
Happiest place on earth to get even happier
You have probably noticed Tripandom loves a good Disney Story well here is a real exciting one. The Disney corporation has just announced that it will spend squillions on its California Adventure park in Anaheim to bolster visitor numbers. They plan to give the park a huge overhaul and ad some great new attractions including a Toy Story attraction, 3 Cars attractions where you will be able to visit Radiator Springs and a Little Mermaid attraction. It is not yet known if it will be similar to the Mermaid attraction at DisneySea in Tokyo. It is expected the attractions will start coming on line late 2008 and be complete in around 5 years. The company has also just started work on a huge expansion of its California Hotel & Spa resort.

Thousands of Trekies and even a few normal people flock to the Las Vegas Hilton daily to visit the Star Trek Experience for a amazing adventure to the 24th century in a 4D spectacular. There are two shows to catch the Klingon Encounter and the recently opened Borg Invasion both use state of the art technology and are great fun. The experience also features a Star Trek museum where you can see some of the original props and costumes plus plenty of memorabilia. And of course there is the Star Trek gift shop at the close of the experience where you can pick up just about any imaginable piece of Star Trek souvenir and while you are at the Hilton why not catch a show from Barry Manilow or one of the other superstar entertainers who regularly play there.
Joshua Tree National Park
The Joshua Tree National Park is located in Southern California and covers nearly 800,000 acres of the Mojave and Colorado Desert. The name of the park comes from the Joshua Tree which is a type of Yucca which people might remember from the U2 album of the same name. The national park is rich in animal life with coyotes, bobcats and jackrabbits among the most commonly seen animals. There are plenty of birds to see to including golden eagles, vultures, owls and the road runner. The park is easily accessible from Los Angeles with the entrance just under two hours drive along Interstate 10 and Highway 62. Read the rest of this entry »
This ferry is a star!
Hong Kong’s Star Ferry dates back to 1888 and still today is one of the best ways to cross the harbor from Hong Kong Island to Kowloon. The 10 – 12 minute journey from Central To Tsim Sha Tsui Service only costs $2.20 HK which works out to to be about an American Quarter a trip. The Star Ferry Company has a fleet of 12 ferries and they carry over 26 million people a year. They have a few different routes and also have a tourist service which stops at Tsim Sha Tsui, Central, Wan Chai, and Hung Hom. Read the rest of this entry »
Sydney Cricket Ground
The Sydney Cricket Ground is one of Australia’s most historic sporting arenas, dating back to the mid 1860’s. The ground was the scene of champion Australian Cricketer Don Bradman’s incredible 452 runs not out in 1930 and since then has played host to some of Cricket’s biggest games as well as hosting the 1938 Empire Games, AFL Football, Rugby and major concert events. The SCG offers a great tour with plenty of history and a behind the scenes look at this magnificent stadium.
This Summer the SCG plays host to India vs Australia in the International Test Cricket Series.
